The project was a build-out of a chemical synthesis lab and optical physics laboratories. The scope consisted of the gut renovation of existing facilities including the installation of high-precision self-leveling lab tables, fume hoods, casework, extensive lab gases and water hookups, showers and emergency eyewash areas, and safety monitoring devices for the state-of-the-art research facility. In addition, extensive infrastructure was required to support the lab and maintain ongoing operation of adjacent animal laboratories including new rooftop exhaust and customized air handling equipment, heat exchangers and electrical risers. These rooms will include new headwalls, bathrooms and isolated HVAC systems allowing WHMC to provide premium care for high risk patients. The work is taking place in highly sensitive areas such as the intensive care unit requiring a high level of Infectious Control Protection adding to an already difficult and complicated job. Cauldwell Wingate was also awarded a project at the same facility to install a new QleanAir containment unit for their Pharmacy, which will provide the hospital with a completely controlled cleanroom solution for their pharmaceutical needs. These projects are first steps WHMC is taking to make itself one of New York’s premier healthcare facilities. Wyckoff Heights

The scope of this 13,000sf project included partial floor demolition and interior construction for patient rooms, restrooms, a green roof, and nursing stations. The hospital remained active during construction, so Cauldwell Wingate worked to minimize disruptions to the daily flow of activities. The work consisted of demolishing existing offices and associated equipment to make way for new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure required to support the new lab facility. The architectural fit-out of the space included all new laboratory casework with integral plumbing fixtures and a separate specially constructed room to house the expansive laboratory freezers. Healthcare/Life Sciences NYU Tandon School of Engineering Bern Dibner Library Project Info Project Info NYU Tandon School of Engineering Bern Dibner Library Cauldwell Wingate was retained as Construction Manager to complete the 3,000sf fit-out of the cutting-edge Center of Innovation for Technology and Entertainment (CITE) lab, an interdisciplinary graduate research lab designed to foster an environment of innovation, collaboration and learning to encourage the development of research projects involving games for learning and movement-based interfaces. The work included demolition and relocation of walls, cosmetic upgrades and associated mechanical and electrical upgrades. Cauldwell Wingate also completed an upgrade of existing smoke purge and fire alarm systems throughout the entire ~55,000sf building. The work involved replacing the original pneumatic actuators on the existing fire smoke dampers with electric actuators and included new wiring back to the associated panels, all work occurring on a third shift while the building remained occupied. The facility was a collaborative project among nine prestigious biomedical research institutions. It houses a Cryogenic Electron Microscope suite, laboratories, administrative offices, and advanced NMR spectroscopy instruments. We successfully addressed the challenge of shielding sensitive instruments by strategically locating the center and creating vacuum-like spaces. The 85,000 sf space required full demolition and MEPS upgrades in order to accommodate a program of specialty medical practices. Equipment needs included two MRIs with associated shielding and floor reinforcement, PET/CT, and radiology, dental, and audiology specialty equipment. Situated in the heart of Midtown, the project required extensive logistical planning and precise execution. Cauldwell Wingate also worked with Columbia Doctors as they pursued LEED Gold accreditation. Columbia
