The two-floor program included the renovation of patient preparation suites, electrophysiology laboratories for performing catheter-based procedures, device implantations, diagnostic studies with stereotaxic equipment and shielding requirements, research and virology labs, nurses offices, screening rooms, and reception area. The program also included extensive MEPS upgrades and infrastructure work, including the build-out of multiple MER closets, new chillers, air handlers, and exhaust. All work required extensive protection, negative air, and careful phasing to ensure uninterrupted services to adjacent departments and medical offices. Mount Sinai

The Center specializes in gastrointestinal cancers, including esophageal, liver, gallbladder, stomach, pancreas, small intestine, and colon cancers. The Monahan Center offers state-of-the-art research, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and education. The new layout consisted of examination rooms, education areas, and doctors’ offices. Project scope involved energy efficient lighting and HVAC including medical gas and vacuum. Also current safe laboratory standards were incorporated. The renovation involved the installation of new laboratory case work with med gas/vacuum capabilities, cold room, counters, partitions, millwork and associated finishes and associated research equipment. The 9th floor research facility, untouched for 30 years and damaged by floods, was overhauled. They also improved the 15th floor lobby and corridors, along with the mechanical infrastructure. The renovation aimed to enhance research capabilities in infectious diseases and immunology, with an open laboratory design promoting collaboration. The project included new laboratory facilities, updated finishes, and improved mechanical systems. Columbia University will benefit from the upgraded space as it focuses on immune system research for various diseases and experiences growth in cancer therapy and transplantation programs. Columbia

This 30,000sf project included the construction of new exam rooms, isolation rooms, CT and x-ray equipment, staff locker areas, emergency room entrance, and mechanical air distribution equipment. Significant phased make-ready work necessitated strict adherence to scheduling. As the emergency department was expanded and renovated while maintaining fully operational, 24-hour medical services, extensive infection control programs and coordination were implemented to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and the public.
