Bravo Builders kicked off safety week with our “Take The Extra Steps” challenge across all of our sites. An Excellent “Fall Protection” demonstration was given by Colony Hardware. Followed by a speech given by our Director of Safety, Charlene Dodson, on How To “Take The Extra Steps” to fully execute safe work practices. What is taking the extra steps? Taking the extra step is conducting housekeeping before the start of operations to prevent slips, trips, and falls. Taking the extra step is reviewing the JHA before the start of operations to ensure all the safety hazards are identified and controls are in place with the task assigned. Taking the extra step is inspecting the equipment before use. Taking the extra step is wearing the PPE properly. Taking the extra step is unplugging tools when they are not in use. Taking the extra step could be a simple as getting a bigger ladder that is appropriate for the height of the operations. Taking the extra step is putting the guard on the grinder. Taking the extra step is connecting the lanyard the worker is already wearing to the anchor point. The steps are not just for aesthetics they are to save lives.
