The renovation aimed to enhance research capabilities in infectious diseases and immunology, with an open laboratory design promoting collaboration. The project included new laboratory facilities, updated finishes, and improved mechanical systems. This 30,000sf project included the construction of new exam rooms, isolation rooms, CT and x-ray equipment, staff locker areas, emergency room entrance, and mechanical air distribution equipment. Significant phased make-ready work necessitated strict adherence to scheduling. As the emergency department was expanded and renovated while maintaining fully operational, 24-hour medical services, extensive infection control programs and coordination were implemented to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and the public. The scope of this 13,000sf project included partial floor demolition and interior construction for patient rooms, restrooms, a green roof, and nursing stations. The hospital remained active during construction, so Cauldwell Wingate worked to minimize disruptions to the daily flow of activities. Healthcare/Life Sciences Wyckoff Heights Medical Center Pharmacy Renovations & Airborne Infection Isolation Rooms Project Info Project Info Wyckoff Heights Medical Center Pharmacy Renovations & Airborne Infection Isolation Rooms Cauldwell Wingate was awarded by the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center (WHMC), to serve as the General Contractor for the construction of six (6) new isolation rooms. These rooms will include new headwalls, bathrooms and isolated HVAC systems allowing WHMC to provide premium care for high risk patients. The work is taking place in highly sensitive areas such as the intensive care unit requiring a high level of Infectious Control Protection adding to an already difficult and complicated job. Cauldwell Wingate was also awarded a project at the same facility to install a new QleanAir containment unit for their Pharmacy, which will provide the hospital with a completely controlled cleanroom solution for their pharmaceutical needs. Scope for this high-end medical facility in the landmarked Trinity Building included an electrical infrastructure upgrade and the build-out of office space, patient facilities, and consultation and exam rooms. Healthcare/Life Sciences New York Structural Biology Center Project Info Project Info New York Structural Biology Center Cauldwell Wingate, acted as the Construction Manager for a state-of-the-art research imaging facility located on the City College campus in Upper Manhattan. The facility was a collaborative project among nine prestigious biomedical research institutions. It houses a Cryogenic Electron Microscope suite, laboratories, administrative offices, and advanced NMR spectroscopy instruments. We successfully addressed the challenge of shielding sensitive instruments by strategically locating the center and creating vacuum-like spaces. The two-phase Article 28/DOH project required temporary departmental relocation to Payson 3, the construction of exam rooms, nurse call stations, installation of DIRTT partitions, and medical gas. The work consisted of demolishing existing offices and associated equipment to make way for new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure required to support the new lab facility. The architectural fit-out of the space included all new laboratory casework with integral plumbing fixtures and a separate specially constructed room to house the expansive laboratory freezers.
