The project included four individually phased pharmacies totaling approximately 4,000sf. Each pharmacy needed to be turned over in 2 months’ time or less. Work included pneumatic tube systems for transport of materials, clean room construction for drug compounding and pass-through windows for patient transactions. The renovation was meant to provide modern labs for the new Department of Radiation Oncology with the latest in laboratory design. Project scope involved energy efficient lighting and HVAC including medical gas and vacuum. Also current safe laboratory standards were incorporated. The renovation involved the installation of new laboratory case work with med gas/vacuum capabilities, cold room, counters, partitions, millwork and associated finishes and associated research equipment. The two-floor program included the renovation of patient preparation suites, electrophysiology laboratories for performing catheter-based procedures, device implantations, diagnostic studies with stereotaxic equipment and shielding requirements, research and virology labs, nurses offices, screening rooms, and reception area. The program also included extensive MEPS upgrades and infrastructure work, including the build-out of multiple MER closets, new chillers, air handlers, and exhaust. All work required extensive protection, negative air, and careful phasing to ensure uninterrupted services to adjacent departments and medical offices. Mount Sinai

The Monahan Center offers state-of-the-art research, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and education. The new layout consisted of examination rooms, education areas, and doctors’ offices. The project consisted of a seven phase, three-floor interior renovation in occupied conditions as well as an underground building extension for 4 vaults, including the installation of three new linear accelerators. The interior portion of the project included a PET/CT room installation, and suites for Medical and Surgical Oncology, Breast Center, and infusion and Pediatric Oncology. In addition, a new executive office center was created. A major lobby renovation was designed with a three-story glass clearstory feature wall. Cauldwell Wingate was responsible for preparing multiple budgets and schedules throughout the preconstruction process as well as oversight responsibility for the construction. Significant phased make-ready work necessitated strict adherence to scheduling. As the emergency department was expanded and renovated while maintaining fully operational, 24-hour medical services, extensive infection control programs and coordination were implemented to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and the public. The project was a build-out of a chemical synthesis lab and optical physics laboratories. The scope consisted of the gut renovation of existing facilities including the installation of high-precision self-leveling lab tables, fume hoods, casework, extensive lab gases and water hookups, showers and emergency eyewash areas, and safety monitoring devices for the state-of-the-art research facility. In addition, extensive infrastructure was required to support the lab and maintain ongoing operation of adjacent animal laboratories including new rooftop exhaust and customized air handling equipment, heat exchangers and electrical risers.
