The two-floor program included the renovation of patient preparation suites, electrophysiology laboratories for performing catheter-based procedures, device implantations, diagnostic studies with stereotaxic equipment and shielding requirements, research and virology labs, nurses offices, screening rooms, and reception area. The program also included extensive MEPS upgrades and infrastructure work, including the build-out of multiple MER closets, new chillers, air handlers, and exhaust. All work required extensive protection, negative air, and careful phasing to ensure uninterrupted services to adjacent departments and medical offices. Mount Sinai

The Center specializes in gastrointestinal cancers, including esophageal, liver, gallbladder, stomach, pancreas, small intestine, and colon cancers. The Monahan Center offers state-of-the-art research, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and education. The new layout consisted of examination rooms, education areas, and doctors’ offices. The high-end design called for custom linear wood Planx ceilings, bamboo wood floors, custom metal and glass partitions, custom millwork counters, and reception desk. New York-Presby

The staircase leads to the newly-created Command Center, which will be used for urgent communication and teleconferencing. The project was a build-out of a chemical synthesis lab and optical physics laboratories. The scope consisted of the gut renovation of existing facilities including the installation of high-precision self-leveling lab tables, fume hoods, casework, extensive lab gases and water hookups, showers and emergency eyewash areas, and safety monitoring devices for the state-of-the-art research facility. In addition, extensive infrastructure was required to support the lab and maintain ongoing operation of adjacent animal laboratories including new rooftop exhaust and customized air handling equipment, heat exchangers and electrical risers. Scope included the full multi-floor renovation of offices, patient rooms, phlebotomy spaces, and laboratory rooms. In addition, work also included the infill of a skylight, new mechanical equipment, and a complete renovation of the clinic’s pharmacy. The renovation of the pharmacy involved the installation of new counters, partitions, high-end millwork and associated finishes, casework, and pharmacy distribution equipment. Phase I required the construction of temporary science laboratories to accommodate programming requirements while the new labs were under construction. Phase II of the project included the gut-renovation of existing lab spaces, including new laboratory millwork, gas and water hookups, showers, and emergency eyewash areas. In addition, the laboratories were outfitted with new exteriors windows and casings. Protection and safety programs were designed to accommodate working in an occupied setting, and all work was coordinated with school officials to minimize disruptions to ongoing school operations.
