SUSAN L. HAYES, President & CEO
Ms. Hayes’ credits the growth of Cauldwell Wingate to the stability of the executive team. The core of the leadership team has worked together for over fifteen years. In addition, the executive team has played an integral role in mentoring the next generation of Cauldwell Wingate leaders.
Susan’s record of leadership and ability to anticipate market trends are a hallmark of her thirty-year career. Recognizing client needs at Cauldwell Wingate resulted in the creation of two thriving initiatives, Spruce Juice City, an energy services company and ConEd partner, and 5 Elements West a highly successful custom manufactured construction elements firm respectively.
Over the past 48 months during the economic downturn, Cauldwell Wingate has enjoyed a counter-cyclical period of growth that is a direct result of strategic diversification into multiple markets. This has resulted in tremendous client commitment and further advanced Cauldwell Wingate's reputation as a premier builder.
Currently, Cauldwell Wingate has over $750 million under construction for world-renowned healthcare providers, financial institutions and cultural institutions. Under Ms. Hayes leadership, Cauldwell Wingate has continued to gain significant footholds in interiors and high-rise construction as well.
Support for Women in Construction
A strong advocate for the recruitment and advancement of women in the construction industry, Ms. Hayes serves as a Board member for Non-Traditional Employment for Women (NEW), an organization that trains, places and advocates blue collar women seeking economic self-sufficiency through the building and construction trades.
Leadership and Community Involvement
Ms. Hayes was appointed to Mayor Bloomberg’s Commission on Construction Opportunity, a group of 34 construction and real estate leaders designated to work with the Mayor and other City officials to explore strategies and set goals for ensuring that all New Yorkers, particularly minorities, women, returning veterans and new high school graduates, are well prepared and can gain access to good, permanent jobs in construction.
The Mayor also appointed her to the CTE (Career and Technical Education) Task Force, to work with the Mayor and City officials to realize the vision for high quality career and technical education opportunities for students at all schools.
Additionally, Ms. Hayes currently serves on:
- Apple Bank for Savings, Board of Directors;
- Contractors’ Association of Greater New York, First Vice President;
- Rallye Motors Board of Managers;
- NEW, Board of Directors;
- Building Trades Employers’ Association, member of Board of Governors;
- New York Building Congress, past Vice Chair; Past Treasurer.
