New York Public Library Battery Park City
From Planned Community to Vibrant Community

Battery Park City took one more step in its revitalization with the opening of the New York Public Library Branch on North End Avenue and Murray Street . The new branch is not just an advancement for the neighborhood but a bold new foray into the 21st century. With a access to both multi-media content and traditional print materials, the NYPL Battery Park stands as a model of a modern library.

Preparing for the Next 200 Years

As the oldest museum in New York City, The New York Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the history of New York and encouraging meaningful dialogue between the past and the present. In addition to its academic work, the museum seeks to provide patrons with engaging exhibits forvisitors of all ages.

The Growth Continues

ANZ Bank is one of the largest financial institutions in the South Pacific and seeks to continue its worldwide growth. To reflect their ever-growing prominence, ANZ retained noted architects, Mancini Duffy to create a spectacular new U.S headquarters office in New York City. In order to minimize any disruption to their core business, ANZ retained Cauldwell Wingate to quickly build-out a space that would reflect the bank’s premier status.
Visiting Nurses Center
A Landmark Preserved

The current Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNS) corporate headquarters building is a grand brick and limestone building with eight stories and a penthouse, built in 1920 by the noted Walker & Gillette Architects. The building was originally a single-family residence and was donated to VNS by the Lamont family in the 1950s. As a landmarked structure, the VNS building required careful restoration under the strict guidelines of the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
Where Few Women Go: A Building Site
Sharon Darling, 24, is a graduate of a program at Nontraditional Employment for Women, a group that prepares women for union jobs in the building trades, and has been an apprentice with Electricians Local 3 for nearly a year. In five years, she will attain the status of mechanic, earning $40 to $50 an hour and the authority to delegate grunt work like hauling 90-pound bales of wire to apprentices like her. She lives in Midwood, Brooklyn.
